Timez Attack is a stunning new video game exclusively for learning multiplication tables. It’s as high-tech and entertaining as a top video game, yet as rigorous and effective as one-on-one training with a skilled teacher. Trust me — you’ve never seen an educational game like THIS before.

CurrClick was formerly the Homeschool eStore. This is a fabulous resource for curriculum and support materials! Owned and operated by homeschool Moms, CurrClick regularly gives back to its clientele through free downloads, discounts and credits. All items are 30% off, and there’s no tax or shipping charges to add. Your homeschool materials are delivered to you instantly – no more waiting for books to arrive in the mail! And using ebooks is better for the environment that buying hard copies!

We have recently added a video component to our homeschooling, which both our aural learner and our visuo-spatial learner can really enjoy. I had wanted to subscribe to a mail service for DVD’s but found out that the one that all my American friends use doesn’t offer accounts to Canadians. Never fear, another dweller of the north referred me to Zip.ca. I absolutely love the service! No more scratching my head at the video store trying to remember the name of the movie I wanted, or getting there & finding it isn’t available. I just “Zip” the movies I want, and they mail them to me. That easy!

CurrClick - Curriculum in a Click! There are tons of videos that help bring alive history and music, especially. I can switch the list around so movies will come in whatever order I want, and some I’ve “Parked” for a later time – like maybe spring or summer vacation. There is no deadline to return the films, which I love. We are able to watch movies like Canada: A Zip.caPeople’s History and 500 Nations over a number of days or weeks, so the kids don’t have to catch everything all at once. And if I get a movie “just for fun” we can watch it more than once without having to worry about when it has to go back. All the postage is paid, both ways, and my plan gives me an unlimited number of rentals for about $20 CDN a month. Really, I couldn’t ask for better!

Sequential Spelling is an affordable tool that is very well known among homeschoolers. I learned of the program through a fellow homeschooler who is a wonderful mentor, and decided to try it out when several other methods had failed. The program is cumulative and has built-in daily reviews. It requires very little time to use, and no teacher preparation. Sequential Spelling is especially good for children who are learning disabled or who are not native English speakers. One text can be used for all your kids, regardless of their age or ability.SS_banner

The program is available in print form or as an e-book, and you can now also purchase a DVD that allows your children to learn spelling pretty much independently. Should you need a reading program as well, AVKO has programs that are keyed to work with Sequential Spelling. The button below will allow you to purchase the first level of Sequential Spelling in print form, complete with the student response book. If you require e-books or other products, please let me know.
