Seasonal Storytelling

A friend of mine, John David Hickey,  will be at the Château Ramezay Museum twice this month to tell traditional Yuletide tales. Set aside some time on the 13th or 27th of December, and head down to experience the magic of a “telling.”

Here’s what Dave had to say:

I am very proud to announce that I will be telling a collection of Winter Tales at the Château Ramezay Museum in Old Montreal on two dates in December 2008 — Saturday the 13th and Saturday the 27th. The show starts at 15h15 and will last 45 minutes.

The stories I will be telling celebrate the lore and legend around the winter months. These stories include:

• Ti-Fleur and the Magic Fiddle (French-Canadian)
• Thomas and La Chasse Galerie (French-Canadian)
• The Month Men (Russian)
• La Befana (Italian) [**** NEW! Listen to a sample of the story on Dave’s blog! Ruby]

Bring your family! Bring your friends! Bring your kids! This is a family show that all will enjoy!

The storytelling is included in the price of admission to the museum, and will be in English. You can access the permanent displays on life in New France, as well as special exhibits & activities for the holiday season. Dave recommends you set aside a couple of hours, to take it all in. Information on the museum (hours, rates, directions, etc.) can be had on their bilingual web site.

Dave is an accomplished storyteller who has been performing for over a decade. His credits include an audio CD and book of his tales, and numerous performances at venues in Quebec and Ontario. It is well worth your time to see one of his shows. I hope to see you there!
