The students of École secondaire André-Laurendeau in St-Hubert will be relocated in two schools until their own school is ready for reoccupation around the end of April. The school is currently closed due to a fire in the building last week.
The Commission Scolaire Marie Victorin would like to underline that the emergency evacuation of the school last week was an example of calm and cooperation. In under 4 minutes, 2350 students and 240 staff left the building and were taken to safety. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
Now that the emergency is over and follow-up procedures are being taken, there is a spirit of solidarity within the board. Students in adapted programs will be welcomed at École Notre-Dame as of Monday, 31 March 2008. All other students will be gradually integrated into École Mgr-A.-M.-Parent, beginning next week. The school board is planning a joint meeting of the parents of the schools involved. Please watch for news of the place and time.
The parent hot line is available again, as of noon 25 March 2008. Any parents who have questions can call this number. To read the latest updates please visit the school board’s web site.
