Easter Ramblings
So, I woke up at 6am and it seems my plans for pretty much the rest of this month were drastically altered. First, school was cancelled for my son. This means one more day to his Easter vacation, and one less day for us to do all the things that are difficult to do when he is home. We had started spring cleaning yesterday, and had planned to get a couple of good hours done today. We had also planned to do our grocery shopping, in light of the fact that we would be pretty much housebound for the next five - now six - days.
Now that plan is out the window.
We’ll manage. Hubby’s favourite mantra is “adapt, improvise, overcome.” And we always figure something out. But I was looking forward to doing the grocery shopping with hubby and the girls. I actually enjoy doing the groceries. I like to take my time, discuss the meals we’re going to make, stroll up and down the aisles with my man while the kids chatter and point out all the cool treats they know we aren’t going to buy - just on the off chance we might get just one of the sugar laden packages of empty calories and future dentist bills….
So I guess this time hubby will be shopping solo. Bummer, but it’s a lot less of a hassle than bringing four kids shopping and having one of them decide he’s going to practice his sprinting and obstacle course skills in the frozen foods section.
The other surprise of the day is that overnight there was a fire in the recycling plant we had planned to visit at the end of this month. It was an activity planned through our local homeschoolers group, so I imagine we’ll have news about the event in the next few days. I’m sure they will still be able to offer tours through the rest of the facilities in the complex, but they probably will have to delay group tours for a while. So, we may have to delay for a while……
Anyway, welcome to spring! It always seems this is the season that throws the most curve balls at us. So - not to mix too many sports metaphors, but - I guess we’re par for the course right now.
Easter weekend is going to be interesting…….
