My babysitter just called to ask us if we had heard the noon news - which, in fact we had not. The infamous Frank Cavallaro had apparently just announced 40-60 cm (18-26″) of snow for this coming Sunday. Did we want to re-schedule our Sunday shopping trip? …….. Ah….. probably!
I quickly went to see if there was anything about the expected storm on the Environment Canada web site. Nothing. Figuring that CFCF had announced it, I went to check out their web site. Same as Environment Canada. Mentions of snow & blowing snow, but no warnings or other indicators of how severe the storm is expected to be.
Finally I found the story at the Gazette web site. They claim the Montreal area should only receive between 20-30 cm (8-12″) and that we shouldn’t worry about more school closings this time, because the snow should end by Sunday evening. Ostensibly, that’s enough time for our crack snow removal teams to clear the roads. (While I have my doubts about that, our son’s school board has historically been very reluctant to announce a snow day unless it falls next to an already scheduled pedagogical day. So he’ll probably be off to his Christmas concert even if the parents have to hitch a ride on the snow plow to get to the school to see it….)
Being that we just had a power outage on Tuesday night, the children are thinking ahead to Sunday & making a list of things we should probably update in anticipation of the storm. If the power fails again, we should be well prepared
